Mary Frances “Fran” Pugh

August 21, 1933-September 10, 2024

Mary Frances “Fran” Pugh, 91, Altoona, peacefully passed away at her residence Tuesday morning, September 10th. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Cawley) Brannigan. Fran married William D. Pugh on December 27, 1952, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Ashville, he preceded her in death on April 30, 2020.

She is survived by her three children: William J. Pugh (Karen) of James Creek; Susan Boland (Donald) of Hollidaysburg and Steven Pugh (Blair) of Columbia, SC; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Ron Brannigan of Altoona, William Brannigan of Ashville RD, Margaret “Peg” Krug of Loretto and Maryann Berger of Chest Springs; a sister-in-law, Elaine Brannigan and brother-in-law, Donald Pugh.

Fran was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Scott; a grandson, Michael Bender and her brothers, Jack and Paul Brannigan.

She was a 1952 graduate of Cresson High School and later went on to retire from Central High School in High Point, NC as a cook with over 17 years of service.

Fran was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking, bingo and card games. Fran especially loved her time at Myrtle Beach.

Friends will be received from 9-11 am, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2716 Broad Ave., Altoona, PA 16601, where a funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, with celebrant, Fr. James Dugan. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
