Michael J. Long

December 27, 1954-June 9, 2025

Michael J. Long, 70, of Queen, passed away at his residence late Monday evening. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late William H. and Edna (Fochler) Long.

He married Bonnie Geis on July 8, 1978 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 46 years; two sons: Adam Long (Heather) of Hollidaysburg and Michael Long (Angelina) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Lakaia and Tensor Long, Baylee Scalice and Kaelab Ruggles; three brothers: William H. Long (Rose), Patrick J. Long (Karen), David A. Long (Vicki); three sisters: Mary Truesdale (Richard), Marie Kissell (David) and Christina Long; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Regina Kelly.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Altoona High School and retired after many years with the Altoona Housing Authority in maintenance.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 245 in State College.

Michael enjoyed cutting grass and playing cards, playing his guitar, writing music and building musical instruments; but he especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 4-7 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:45 pm.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2010 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
