Michael J. “Mike” Rudolph

February 9, 1960-September 7, 2024

Michael J. “Mike” Rudolph, 64, Altoona, passed away Saturday, September 7th, at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Charles and Alice (Hartsock) Rudolph.

Mike married Margaret Matia on August 5, 1995 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; a son, Nathan Rudolph of Altoona and a daughter, Jessica Rudolph of Tampa, FL; a brother, Thomas Rudolph of Harrisburg; two sisters: Mary Beth Edmonds (Chuck) of Tucson, AZ and Alice Rowley (Jack) of Pittsburgh; three nieces: Haley, Sarah and Grace; and two nephews: Mitchell and Jack; his uncle, Dr. Robert Hartsock (Marjorie) and cousins: Tom, Rob and Randy Hartsock.

Mike was a 1978 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and a 1982 graduate of Penn State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in political science.

He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years.

Mike was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He had been a member of the church council at Our Lady of Lourdes.

He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football. Mike enjoyed fishing, reading and especially spending time with family and friends.

Friends will be received from 10-noon, Thursday, October 17, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 344 Baynton Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon with celebrant, Msgr. Michael Becker. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions be made in Mike’s memory to: Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602 or your local Humane Society branch, as Mike was a great lover of animals.
