Obituary For Michael P. Sanker

Michael P. Sanker Feb. 10, 1958-June 13, 2022

Michael P. Sanker, 64, Glasgow, passed away unexpectedly June 13, 2022, at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gerald F. and Violet (Ihm) Sanker. Mike was an adoring husband to his wife, Christine (Shoenfelt) of 25 years. He leaves behind his wife and two stepsons; Matthew Beiswenger, Duncansville and Ryan Beiswenger, Glasgow both of whom he loved deeply as his own. Surviving are four siblings; Gerald (Ellen) Sanker, New Jersey, Thomas Sanker, Altoona, Anne (David) Couch and Suzi (Michael) Connolly both of Florida along with numerous nieces, nephews, many relatives and a family of friends. Mike graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1976. He earned an Associate Degree from Bell and Howell Electronics, Ohio and then honorably served in the United States Navy for six years. Mike retired from truck driving, Central Intermediate Unit 10 and McCartney’s Office Supply. Mike loved life, a good laugh, playing his guitar and his country home. His large circle of family and friends at Tom and Jerry’s camp, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Charismatic Prayer Group meant everything to him. Mike was a good friend to anyone who needed his help and was extremely generous. Friends and family will be received from 5-8 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602 where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral mass celebrating Mike’s faith and life will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 692 Glendale Valley Rd., Frugality officiated by Reverend Robert Reese. Committal will be held at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers send donations to Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 692 Glendale Valley Road, Fallentimber, PA 16639 or to Mike’s family.     Mike was on of the most kind and generous people that I knew. He was always willing to lend a helping had. You will be greatly missed my dear friend. I'm sure you are up there playing your guitar and singing "Darling" to all the angels.
