Obituary For Monford "Monte" H. Pattillo

Monford H. “Monte” Pattillo April 27, 1942-Feb. 6, 2023

Monford H. “Monte” Pattillo, 80, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona, surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Monford W. and Betty G. (Harris) Pattillo. Monte married Peggy L. Beasom on August 16, 2003. Monte is survived by his loving wife; his two sons: Courtney L. Pattillo (Erica) of Shippensburg, Anthony W. Pattillo of Chambersburg; two daughters: Jamie L. Walk (Scott) and Brandy L. Lightner (Rick) all of Altoona; twelve grandchildren: Zion, Bryce, Chase, Taylor, Tia, Erin, Brandon, Alyssa, Dylan, Matthew, Haley and Makayla; one great-grandchild, Saylor. Also surviving are a brother, Kevin Pattillo; three sisters: Cathy Brawley of Altoona, Marianne Pattillo of Canton, OH and Debbie Jenkins (David) of Mason, OH; Aunt Roxie Thomas; Leslie Dively, mother of Courtney and Anthony; many nieces, nephews and his loving dog, Gunner. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Ivan and Grady Pattillo and a sister, Sally Witherspoon. Monte was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. After 27 years of service Monte retired from Penelec as a lineman. He was a member at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Monte enjoyed fishing and hunting. Friends will be received from 10-11 am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 5th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am at Mt. Zion with Rev. Keith Moore. Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.     Monte was a great man, after his retirement he worked at the Training center I managed in Philipsburg, you could not find a more friendly, caring and dedicated individual to teach young apprentice linemen. His friendship we be sincerely missed. Blaine Koontz, Philipsburg

    This breaks my heart, Monte shared many wonderful times with my family, he was such a good man. My heart goes out to his wife and family. I'm terribly sorry for your loss as well as everyone who knew Monte. Much love to all of you, and Monte you will be forever in our hearts, rest easy dear man.
