Nancy A. Blyler, 87, Altoona, passed away Saturday evening at Hilltop Nursing Home after a long battle with dementia.
She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Cashman) Shannon. Nancy married George Blyler on February 6, 1959 at Calvary Baptist Church, he preceded her in death in 1976.
Nancy is survived by her four children: Joyce M. Romine, Martha A. Bombay, Michael W. Blyler and John A. Blyler all of Altoona; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Bittner of Altoona and Helen Kibler of Chambersburg.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan M. Walter; and her siblings: William Shannon, Robert Shannon, Richard Shannon, Frank Anspach, Ruth Conrad, Mildred Shannon, Fern Herschell and Norma Engle.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School.
She retired as a cook and waitress from Betar’s Restaurant for many years.
Nancy enjoyed painting, ceramics and doing puzzles.
Friends and family will be received from 11 am-1 pm, Thursday, August 31, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Douglas McGaffin. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
