Nancy E. Henschel-Mills, 56, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Shadyside following a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Philipsburg, the daughter of the late Samuel and Nancy (Jenkins) Henschel. Nancy married Damian J. Mills on October 31, 2013.

Nancy is survived by her husband and three brothers: Ronald Henschel of Harrisburg, Ervin Henschel of Bigler and John Henschel of Boyertown.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice.

Nancy was a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and had been working towards a bachelor’s in hospitality.

She had an extensive career in the food and hospitality industry and had been a Food Service Supervisor for Sheetz since 2018. Nancy had previously worked at the Blair County Convention Center and Jack & George’s.

Nancy was an avid fan of Japanese history, art and culture and truly loved helping with animal rescues.

She enjoyed cooking, beer, gardening, flowers, gaming, reading and decorating her home and loving her cats.

Nancy will be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh that helped her make friends everywhere she went. She was a large part of every community she was involved in, from her work families to the many communities she joined online. She was strong willed and passionate, but genuinely kind, and would do anything for those she loved. Nancy will be deeply missed.

Friends will be received from 11 am-1 pm, Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall, 1501 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648. A celebration of Nancy’s life will follow from 1-5 pm.
