Obituary For Patricia Anne Brown
Patricia Anne Brown
Dec. 8, 1933-May 7, 2023
Patricia Anne Brown, 89, Altoona, passed away Sunday at Graystone Manor, Bellmeade.
She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Helen A. (Schreiber) Jones. Patricia married Francis D. Brown in Winchester, Virginia on June 8, 1966.
Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years; her son Joseph E. Brown of Altoona; two daughters: Margaret E. ‘Maggie” Jones (Calvin) of Norfolk, VA and Leslie Anne Turner of Altoona; five grandchildren: Jonathon Turner, Aaron Turner, Allison Brown, Ava Brown and Sophie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael F. Brown; brother, Donald Jones and sister, Rita Fox.
She was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and a 1954 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
Patricia retired in 1995 as a registered nurse after 17 years of service.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood.
Pat was an avid fan of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and would often be seen on the sidelines with her husband at many sporting events. She had an insatiable love for college football as well and for her beloved Notre Dame. Pat became a huge Penn State fan. After marrying her husband, they sat together at many games in Happy Valley.
She was a wonderful Nana and loved spending her later years with her grandchildren. Pat had an amazing heart and a love for children. Wherever she saw children, her spirit would lift, and her heart would smile. Pat was a remarkable woman and left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. Her love of life was contagious, and her convictions and morals were strong. Pat never shied away from sharing her thoughts and will forever be remembered for standing up for what she believed in.
Friends will be received from 10 am-1 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will follow at 1 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Father Michael Pleva officiating. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
