Obituary For Patrick T. Duffy

Patrick T. Duffy March 18, 1963-June 24, 2022

Patrick T. Duffy, 59, Altoona, passed unexpectedly Friday at his residence. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Clair and Barbara (Yetsko) Duffy. Patrick married Darlene M. Branick on July 5, 1997 at The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Pat is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years; a son, Michael and two daughters: Nicole and Karen; a brother, Mike Duffy (Kim) and sister, Barb “Toots” Rhoa all of Altoona; his mother and father-in-law, John and Helen Branick of Nanty Glo; sisters-in-law: Karen Washington and Paula Duffy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Duffy and brother-in-law, Gary Branick. Pat was a 1981 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He devoted over 40 years of his life to the maintenance and operations of his parish, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Pat was a renowned PIAA basketball referee for over 20 years and a former basketball coach for the McNelis Catholic School. He was a member of the Swiss Club and an avid Notre Dame fan. Pat especially loved spending time with his family and his dogs. Friends will be received from 3-8 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, Pa. 16601 with the Rev. Jozef Kovacik celebrant.     Toots and Mike, I wish I could be there in person to tell you how sad I am to hear of Pat's passing. We shared many hours together on gospel hill in the baseball field and in the cathedral's parking lot. This is much to sudden. My prayers are with you and with Pat's wife and children.

    Our thoughts are with the Duffy family at this time of sorrow. Deb worked at the Cathedral for ten years and Pat was a big help to her when she had music concerts
