Obituary For Paul E. Franco

Paul E. Franco April 4, 1933 – Dec. 19, 2020

Paul E. Franco, 87, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away, Sunday at the St. Leonard’s Personal Care Home. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Alexander and Julia (Merchi) Franco. Paul married MaryAnn Adams in Altoona and she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1970. Paul is survived by his four children: Alex Franco of Virginia Beach, Andrew Franco of Ebensburg, Thomas Franco of Cresson and Paula Lee Schoenfelt of Altoona; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers: Alex of Altoona, Dave of Las Vegas; sisters: Madeline Rupe of Centre Hall and Carrie Robertson of Altoona; Paul is also survived by his longtime sweetheart, Frances Bell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Franco and a sister, Betty McConnell. Paul was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School. He fought during the Korean Conflict for the United States Army. Paul then worked for Conrail as a stationary fireman and retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, VFW Post #3, Bavarian Aide Society, Unter Uns and the Heidelberg Country Club. Paul enjoyed playing the drums and he was a member of numerous bands throughout the area. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a future date. Arrangements provided The Stevens Mortuary, Inc.
