Paul J. Campbell

Paul J. Campbell, 97, Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Altoona, passed away, Sunday, May 28, 2023 at VA Hospital Louisville, Kentucky.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Joseph M. and Marie B. (Hoyer) Campbell. Paul married Mary Jean Nagle on Sept. 17, 1949 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, she preceded him in death on May 3, 1995.

Paul is survived by three children: William Campbell and wife Ellen of Navarre, OH, Thomas Campbell of Columbus, OH and Scott and wife Delores Campbell of Louisville, KY; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers: Phil Campbell, Robert Campbell, Bernard Campbell, Regis Campbell all of Altoona, Jim Campbell of Tucson AR, and David Campbell of Reading PA.

Paul was a 1944 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

Paul retired in 1990 from Nickles Bakery as a bakery supervisor, having previously worked at A&P Bakery, with a total of 45 years of service in the bakery business.

He enjoyed singing with the Our Lady of Lourdes Resurrection Choir and directed the choir at Blair Senior Services for 15 years. Paul liked vegetable gardening, fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023 with Fr. James Dugan at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church, 2700 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601. Committal will be held at Alto Reste Park with military honors.
