Obituary For Paul J. Hatch

Paul J. Hatch

September 20, 1933-December 18, 2024

Paul J. Hatch, 91, Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday morning at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Ross W. and Margaret E. (Lasher) Hatch.

Paul was twice married, first to Iva Ann Ulery, she preceded him in death on September 19, 1993. His second wife was Shirley J. Florey who also preceded him in death on November 13, 2009.

He is survived by his children: Elizabeth A. Keller, Francis W. Hatch, Warren D. Hatch, Susan E. Yingling, and stepchildren: David Wagner, William Wagner, Terry Wagner, and Cynthia Melley; nineteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Paul was preceded in death by his sons, Christopher K. Hatch, Daniel P. Hatch and Paul N. Hatch, Sr.; his daughter, Darleen P. Cross and stepdaughter, Debra Cherry; also two grandchildren, Heather D. Hatch and Nicholas Hatch; two brothers, M. Wayne Hatch and Beverly J. Hatch and his sister, Mary Margaret Manley.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and went on to retire in 1996 from Charlton Bros. Transportation as a driver after 30 years of service.

Paul was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry.

He enjoyed watching the NASCAR races, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler football and liked to go bowling.

Paul was a member of the Unter Uns, Concordia, Bavarian Aid Society and the American Legion #516.

Friends will be received from 2-5 pm, Sunday, December 22, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 704 Patrick Lane, Newry, PA 16665 with Rev. Allen P. Zeth, celebrant.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

    Paul was a great man and a wonderful husband to Shirley. He took great care of her and Bill and I loved spending time with him. We are out of town and unable to be at services. Our deepest sympathy to the family
