Obituary For Philip J. Horton

Philip J. Horton May 15, 1956 – December 12, 2020

Philip J. Horton, 64, Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center Altoona, died Saturday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul L. and Mary (Datres) Horton.

He is survived by a sister Mary Grace Neugebauer (Gerald) of Cresson, brother Michael Horton (Mary Grace) of Altoona, sister in law Judy Horton of Harrisburg, nieces and nephews: Susie Horton, Dorothy Sloter (Barry) and Tammy Jo Stine (Todd) all of Altoona, Gena Neugebauer in Texas, Jerry Neugebauer III (Eunice) in California, Gretchen Snyder (Ben) in Virginia, Greg Neugebauer (Erin) of Ebensburg, Paul Horton (Devon) of Cranberry Twp., Chris Horton of Altoona and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: David Horton and Raymond Horton and Raymond’s wife Arlene.

Philip was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altoona and was a 1974 Graduate of AAHS. He had worked many different jobs, including Lepine Foods and other businesses in Waverly, NY.

Philip loved his pet cats, to sing and do drawings of beautiful intricately designed pictures. He will always be remembered for his laugh, humor and his ability to delight others, especially his nieces and nephews and of his enjoyment of family reunions.

Due to COVID-19, a private family visitation and a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church will be held for immediate family only. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

    So many laughs with you, Phil. I remember watching the Halloween parade in Waverly and one of the Steay Haven dogs pooped in the road and you yelled ou " Hey, they said no throwing candy" , and you riding your bike down Broad St. laughing like Pee Wee Herman and scaring Jenna. You were an awesome guy. RIP Buddy
