Phyllis E. Sunderland July 28, 1929 - August 27, 2020

Phyllis E. Sunderland, 91, Altoona, passed away Thursday morning at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Clare (Endler) McCullough. She married Charles F. Sunderland, Jr. on June 18, 1949 in Altoona and he preceded her in death June 9, 2012. She is survived by two sons: Doug C. and Gary F. (Dawn), both of Altoona; a daughter, Gail Sunderland-Gaughan (Norman) of Cumberland, MD; and a grandson, Joshua Sunderland. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Ken, Clair, Leonard, and Fran McCullough; and a sister, Cleo Keresey. Phyllis was a graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from GTE Sylvania with over 25 years of service. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood and enjoyed gardening, baking and babysitting. There will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood by Father Jozef Kovacik.
