I met Joe when he, Bill and their sisters were on their way to Mass , walking down 4 th St hill. I share Bill's sentiments concerning our teen years. Joe and I joined the Army in 1961 and for the "significant " sum of $50.00 extra pay per month, we signed up for the Airborne Division. Who knew that Airborne meant paratroopers. When we were discharged, Joe encouraged me to continue my education and we went to school on the GI Bill. As a lifelong friend, he also encouraged me to respect and keep close ties with our Lord. Joseph was an important person in our lives since he introduced my now husband and I back in 1978 in Dewey Beach, DE and was our Best Man in 1982 when we married. He'll always have a very special place in our hearts. His last years were very rough and we now pray for the repose of his soul. May peace be his.

I met Joseph in 1976 when I first came to DC. He was this brusque and somewhat gruff person that became such a good, faithful friend who introduced me to the beach and my wife. He also was my memorable best man at my wedding. Greg Klees
