Rebekah Jane Evey, 87, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday morning, following a brief illness. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late John and Jane (Schmidt) Hill. In January 1959, she married her beloved husband, the late Henry H. “Ace” Evey.

Becky is survived by her three children: Karen Pfeffer (Rick), Suzanne Swope (Drew), and Matthew Evey (Terri); six grandchildren: Paige Pfeffer (Thomas Pham), Joseph Pfeffer (Rebecca), Greta Swope, Kathryn Swope, Emily Evey, and William Evey; two great-grandsons, Oliver and Henry Pham; and two sisters, Suzanne Glenn (Mark) and Priscilla Daniell.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William John “Jack” Hill, and an infant granddaughter, Jane.

Becky was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg University, where she had the opportunity to study abroad for three months. She worked as a teacher in both the Altoona and Hollidaysburg Area School Districts before transitioning to the real estate business. She spent 20 years working as a Realtor for John Hill Real Estate, the family business.

A devoted community member, Becky was actively involved in several civic organizations, including the Hollidaysburg Women’s Club, Hollidaysburg YMCA Women’s Auxiliary, Altoona Junior Women’s Club, the Navy League, and the United Way. She was a founding member of the Friends of Hollidaysburg Area Public Library. Additionally, Becky was a member of the Blairmont Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg.

Becky had a love for reading, especially nonfiction and classic literature. She enjoyed staying active throughout her life, with a passion for exercise and playing bridge with her club. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, whom she always considered her greatest blessing.

In accordance with Becky’s wishes, a private service will be held.
