Richard T. Graupensperger

April 8, 1939-April 21, 2025

Richard T. Graupensperger, 86, of Altoona, passed away Monday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center following an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late John W. and Alice T. (Bender) Graupensperger.

Richard is survived by two sons: Timothy Graupensperger (Suzanne) of

Altoona and Brian Graupensperger (Dana) of State College; a daughter,

Wendy Graupensperger (Steve) of Altoona; four grandchildren:

Megan, Drew, Lexi and Ben Graupensperger; and a sister, Alice M. Myers of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, John V. and Robert B. Graupensperger and two sisters, Mary Ball and Dorothy Stephens.

Richard was a 1958 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School.

He had worked for Sylvania in the quality control department until his retirement in 1983.

Richard was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Swiss Club and the Bavarian Aid Society.

Richard was an avid sports fan, especially the Pirates, Steelers, PSU football and the Altoona Curve.

Friends will be received from 4-7 pm, Friday, April 25, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 806 11th St., Altoona, PA 16602.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
