Obituary For Robert A. Dinicola

Robert A. Dinicola

December 10, 1943-September 17, 2024

Robert Anthony Dinicola, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, and sister. A man of tremendous generosity, loyalty, and devotion, Robert “Bob” leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family, cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.

Born in Altoona, PA, the son to the late Victor and Jane (Tarin) Dinicola, Bob was blessed to meet the love of his life, Bonnie West, whom he married on June 18, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together, they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, raising four daughters: Jacqueline, Jocelyn, Robyn (Andrew), and Rebecca (Anthony). He is also survived by his beloved sister, Rosalind, and six grandchildren: Anthony, Sydney, Abby, Emma, Gabe, and Mia. His many nieces, nephews, and cousins were also dear to him, and they will carry his spirit forward.

Preceded in death were siblings Kenneth, Victor, Stephen, and Constance, Bob’s connection to family ran deep. He honored their memories throughout his life, and his devotion to his loved ones remained steadfast.

A graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Bob’s professional journey reflected his talents and entrepreneurial drive. He began as a skilled welder with Conrail becoming an instructor and welding inspector. Alongside his family, he operated Jane’s Pizza, named in honor of his mother, continuing the legacy she began and making it a beloved local favorite in Cresson, PA. He also ran his own landscaping business, Liberty Lawncare, working tirelessly to support his family.

Bob’s greatest joy in life was his family. He never missed a single basketball game his daughters played, often traveling long distances to cheer them on. For years, he coached girls' youth basketball teams, leading them to several championships but, more importantly, imparting life lessons that extended far beyond the court. His wisdom and guidance made a lasting impact on countless young lives.

In addition to being a devoted father and coach, Bob had a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything. His home was always filled with the warmth of his presence and the delicious meals he loved to cook for his family.

Bob’s faith was the foundation of his life. A loyal member of Saint Mary’s Parish, his devotion to the Blessed Mother sustained him throughout every stage of his journey. His love, rooted in faith and family, will continue to inspire all those who knew him.

Though Bob will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that his love endures in their hearts. His life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and an unshakable commitment to those he held dear.

Friends will be received from 9:30-11:30 am, Monday, September 23, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 5th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
