Robert E. “Bob” Verzella

September 5, 1975-August 31, 2026

Robert E. “Bob” Verzella, 50, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday at his residence. He was born in New Brighton, the son of Maureen (Flickinger) Verzella and the late Thomas Verzella.

Bob was twice married, first to Jennifer Cline and then to Erin Heather Erlinger. They both preceded him in death.

He is survived by his mother, Maureen; he was devoted to his two loving daughters: Abigail Verzella at home and Olivia Verzella (Bo Fauble) of Tacoma, WA; his brother, Andrew Verzella (Bonnie) of Shallotte, NC; his special family friend, Dan Beck; also, his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob was a 1993 graduate of Altoona Area High School and worked in IT for Delta Dental of PA. Previously, he worked at Disney World in the telecom department.

He was witty, opinionated and usually able to get a laugh from those around him. A voracious reader, a delightful cook, which our minds and stomachs will miss dearly. His love for family was always absolute even through the many difficulties he faced. Bob was never one to back down from what he believed was right and the world is quieter without him in it.

Bob enjoyed listening to music of all genres and playing video games. He also liked playing the piano and singing at many different venues.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.

    When we were in our sophomore year of high school, Bob helped Olivia, our friend Felicity and I skip school to go to a concert in DC. He made us laugh the whole way there and back, made sure we were safe and fed, and gave us a memory I will cherish forever. So thankful to have known him.

    Maureen, I was so saddened to hear this news. Deepest condolences from Bob's entire Disney family. So many here have now heard and we have been reaching out to each other and sharing stories and remembering our years with him. I was Bob's leader for two of his three stints here. He was such a joy to have on the team. So creative and funny and smart. I don't know if you know this, but he had this funny habit of kneeling at his desk instead of sitting in the chair. One day HR called me into her office and said she had wandered through our area earlier and saw Bob kneeling next to my desk as I was explaining something to him. She asked me if I made him do that. I laughed so hard. There was another time we had to present our team to the rest of the call center teams. Everyone did boring power points, but Bob made up a skit with piano music and a song and everything. After we went, everyone else said they didn't want to follow us. He was such a joy and will be missed. I had many conversations with him over the years about our faith and I am certain Bob believed in what Jesus did for us and he is now in heaven rejoicing with the angels. Abby, Bob was so overjoyed when you were born. You were everything to him and Jennifer. All the scrapbooking Jennifer did to remember every moment of your life.... He shared updates over the years and was so proud of all you accomplished. Olivia, what a surprise you were to come along so quickly after Abby. I remember when Bob came in and announced that they were expecting again. He was so excited. He was always showing off your art work and sharing the books you and Abby were ready. He was so proud of you. To both of you, family was everything to Bob, Jennifer and Erin. I'm so sorry you two have lost so many in your young lives. Just know how much you were loved but each of them. You were the light of their lives.
