Robert Kerns Howsare

October 15, 1938-March 23, 2024

Robert Kerns Howsare, 85, Altoona, passed away Saturday morning at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Kerns Arnold and Katherine Blake (McNeil) Howsare. Robert married Rosalyn Ann Wright on June 15, 1968 in York County, PA.

He is survived by his wife; a son, James R. Howsare (Isela); four grandchildren: David Sirak (Laura), Stephanie Driggers (Blake) Adela Howsare-Palacios and Robert E. Howsare-Palacios; six great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Michael Mallory; two nieces and two nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Howsare-Mallory; a brother, William and sister, Janet.

He was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1956 and attended Shippensburg State College, where he played football and was a member of the Varsity Club.

Robert served in the Army National Guard.

He retired as an Assistant Vice-President of Omega Bank in Hollidaysburg. Robert also worked during his retirement in the Prothonotary’s office at the Blair County Courthouse.

Robert was a member and the past treasurer at St. Alban’s Anglican Church in Pine Grove Mills.

Friends will be received from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. Committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.
