Obituary For Ronald C. Schultz, Sr.

Ronald C. Schultz, Sr. Nov. 5, 1938-May 23, 2021

Ronald C. Schultz, Sr., 82, of Tipton, passed away at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Edward and Edith (Howell) Schultz. Ronald married Phyllis A. Shultz on December 10, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; his sons: Ronald C. (Lois) Schultz, Jr. of Ebensburg, Timothy Schultz of St. Benedict, and Mark Schultz of Altoona; daughters: Vicki (Joseph) Pacovsky of Altoona and Jody (Ronald) Barrick of Bellwood; seven grandchildren: Ronald C. (Heidi) Schultz, III, Andrew Schultz, Matthew Schultz, Benjamin (Shannon) Schultz, Zachary (Kristen) Schultz, Bentley Schultz and Kylie Pacovsky; two great-grandchildren: Jason Schultz and Calista Johnson; a brother, Lee Schultz of Altoona and a special nephew, Shawn Shultz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Schultz and a granddaughter, Phylleenna Pacovsky. Ronald was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School, attended Penn State University and went on to the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1955-1961. He retired as a Sergeant on March 2, 1996 after 29 years of service with the City of Altoona Police Department, where he served as a founding officer of the Bicycle Patrol and he was part of the SCAT Team. Ronald belonged to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Bellwood, Brush Mt. Sportsman’s Association, the Unter Uns, Bavarian Aid Society and F.O.P. Lodge #8. He enjoyed model trains, hunting, fishing, woodworking, boating at Glendale and especially loved to spend time with his family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, May 28, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. Where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood with Fr. Jozef Kovacik officiating. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.     Phyllis and family, I am sorry to read of Ron's passing. I worked with him for many years on APD. Unfortunately, I am out of town and not able to attend the service. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Janice Freehling
