Obituary For Ronald "Ron" L. Reeder

Ronald L. Reeder
September 30, 1948-July 2, 2025

Ronald L. Reeder, 76, of Altoona, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Centerville, the son of the late Raymond L. and Betty L. (King) Reeder.
Ron was twice married, first to Shirley Sadler in Indiana, where they resided until her death in 1995. He then married Denise Pattillo on January 13, 1996 in Altoona.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Denise; his son, Ronald C. Reeder (Sandra Fourney) of East Berlin; his brother, Mark L. Reeder (Brenda Frantz) of Ridgely, WV; his mother-in-law, Gwen Pattillo and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, R. Neal Hughes and father-in-law, Robert J. Pattillo.
Ron was a 1966 graduate of Bedford High School and a 1970 graduate of IUP with a bachelor’s degree in education.
He retired in 2004 from the Homer City Generating Station as a maintenance repairman with over 20 years of service. Ron had previously worked at Montgomery Wards and Sadler’s Kawasaki, both in Indiana.
Ron was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity at IUP and a variety of local car clubs.
He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and loved hanging out at the family cabin. Ron enjoyed working in his garden and was active in organizing his class reunions. He loved to work on restoring automobiles, especially his father’s GMC Sprint; going to car shows and cruise-ins. Ron loved to travel with his wife on cruises and especially visiting family and close friends in Florida during the winter months.
Ron will be fondly remembered for his love of playing tricks on people and his great sense of humor, fantastic smile and his hearty, contagious laugh! He was a jack of all trades, a regular “Mr. Fix-it!”
A celebration of life will be held at later date.

Denise, our heart broke when we saw Ron's obituary. He was so kind and such a good person. We are glad to travel to Pirate games with you both. He showed us what it meant to be a real true friend and what a loving husband he was towards you. He is celebrating face to face with the Lord now.
