Russ Price

April 7, 1935-September 8, 2026

Russ Price, 91, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona the son of the late, Charles Russell and Helen (Booth) Price and was raised in the family home of the late Jim and Mary Adams.

Russ married Joan Galanick at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on November 15, 1958.

Surviving Russ, is his loving wife of 67 years and his four sons: Brian Price of Hollidaysburg, Jeff Price (Sherrie), Kevin Price (Denise) and Eric Price (Nancy) all of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Laura, Jennifer, Mike, Zack, Mackinzie, Joshua, Jeremiah, Sarah and Rebekah; four great-grandchildren: Holden, Myles, Maya and Blaire. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Price of Norwich, CT and his sister, Doris Strimel of James Creek.

Russ was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Karen Price.

He was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, later joining the Army National Guard and the Reserves.

Russ retired from the Blair County Courthouse Tax Assessment Office as a tax assessor and mapper with over 40 years of service. He had previously been employed with Gwin Engineers.

He was an avid sports fan of BG and AAHS basketball, football and track & field. Russ enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and loved spending time with his family.

Committal will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the Calvary mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:15 pm, Saturday at Liberty Hall at the US Hotel Tavern, 401 S. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.

Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

    Brian and family, Most sincere condolences to you on the passing of your father. I remember his faithful attendance at our McNelis football practices and games. He was a great guy.
