Scott W. Reimer

August 16, 1968-April 25, 2024

Scott W. Reimer, 55, Altoona, passed away at his residence, Thursday morning after a courageous two-year battle with ALS. He was born in Altoona, the son of Patricia (Brown) Reimer and the late William J. Reimer.

Scott married Heather McKenzie on March 31, 2000.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years and two sons, Connor W. and Zachary S. Reimer, both at home; one granddaughter, Tessa Rose; four siblings: Steven W. Reimer (Michelle), Shawn W. Reimer (Heather A.), Suzanne Krider all of Altoona and Sharon Zelnosky (Scott) of Hanover, MD. Scott is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy B., sister-in-law, Amy; brother-in-law, Stephen Krider and godmother, Patty Brown.

He was a 1986 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1990 graduate of Penn State University.

Scott served in the Army National Guard and was the former owner of Damons Grill in State College, afterwards he went on to work for Metz Culinary Management in the Central Cambria School District.

He was an avid sports fan, cheering on Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Scott loved coaching all the kids in baseball and football, but especially being able to coach his boys, Connor and Zachary. Scott was a great friend to many and was always one to offer help unconditionally.

Friends will be received from 4-8 pm, Thursday, May 2, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, May 3, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 6th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 with Fr. John Lynam, celebrant.

If you would like to do something for Scott as a last act of kindness, we know he would want it to be done for his boys. In lieu of flowers a Connor & Zach Reimer College Account, c/o Heather Reimer has been set up at Citizens Bank, 181 Sophira Lane, Altoona, PA 16602 for this purpose.

    Let me introduce my self. I am Father Marty Hammond. Sharon has often shared with me news about this wonderful man, and the heroic care that he has received. Of special note is his most devoted wife. The greatest of this is love, and you have been an example of devoted love to many. The extended family also reached in caring ways. There are others who support an care will be remembered forever I feel I got to know Scott through Sharon. It will be a privilege to get to know him above, He is a treasure to so many, May you often sense his presence. We are so connected to them. Peace surround you all in this challenging time.
