Obituary For Shirley J. Payne

Shirley J. Payne March 16, 1948-August 8, 2022

Shirley J. Payne, 74, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. She was born in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald H. and Winifred O. (Hoffman) Fisher. Shirley is survived by her children: Joseph S. Payne, Jr., Amy Gray, and Maureen Payne all of Altoona, Sean P. (Cris) Payne of Spring Lake, NC, Kathleen Payne of Dysart; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Dave Fisher of New Jersey, Ken Fisher of Hollidaysburg, Rick Fisher, Bob Fisher, and Georgia Lauer all of Altoona; her special friend, Derby Walter and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean and her brother, Don. Shirley was a private caregiver and was a senior companion through Blair Senior Services. She enjoyed playing bingo, was an avid Elvis Presley fan, and loved her play dates with her sister and spending time with family. Friends will be received from 4-8 pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Johnson. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
