Theresa A. Merilli

January 28, 1936-November 14, 2025

Theresa A. Merilli, 89, of Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Bart and Katherine “Kitty” (Cella) Tartaglio.

Theresa married Robert J. Merilli on March 2, 1957 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on May 15, 2025.

She is survived by her two sons: Philip G. Merilli (Lola) of Wexford and Michael G. Merilli of Sedona, AZ; three grandchildren: Kyla T. Merilli Moehring (Ben), Danielle C. Merilli Capezzi (James) and Shelby J. Merilli White (Brian); and her three great-grandchildren: Gunnar, Arlen and Evelyn Capezzi.

Theresa was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine A. Merilli Wagner.

She was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and the Altoona School of Commerce.

Theresa was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and enjoyed being an active part of the Grand Palazzo community.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona, PA 16602.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.

    Theresa was one of my dearest friends. She was a kind, loving lady who enjoyed entertaining and being with friends. I moved to Chesapeake Virginia several years ago and missed her a lot. Goodby my dear friend. Alice Sturniolo

    May Theresa and Bob rest in the peace of Christ Jesus . May their family be comfortéd in his peace and love. They were and are a beautiful memory. I enjoyed their friendship and enjoyed their company whenever they came to shop at US foods cash / carry., plus seeing anywhere in Altoona. May their memory be eternal!. They shall always be in my prayers!.
