Theresa M. Bettwy

May 31, 1926 – October 28, 2023

Theresa M. Bettwy, 97, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Lakemont, passed away Saturday at the Manor. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Justin and Paulina (Vorndran) Kessler. She married Vincent J. Bettwy, Sr. on May 17, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2010 after 58 years of marriage.

Surviving are 4 children: Barbara A. Bettwy of Harrisburg, Bernard J. Bettwy (Susan) of Cresson, Vincent J. Bettwy, Jr. (Melissa) of Duncansville, Regina B. Gates (John) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and son in law: Michael R. Behe (Anne) of Spring City; nine grandchildren: Denise Ness (Christopher), Christopher Bettwy (Cassandra), Angela Bernardo (Nicholas), James Behe (Jennifer), Michele Behe, Allen McManus (Maureen), Jesse Gates (Kerri), Julie Good (Daniel) and Jaclyn Gates; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Pauline Steinbugl and Mary Agnes Kessler both of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Patrice M. Behe, a granddaughter Syra M. Bettwy; and two brothers: Herman and Rudolph Kessler.

Theresa was a 1944 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School.

Friends will be received from 9-10:30 am on Friday, November 3, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on the same day at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Bishop Mark L. Bartchak. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.
