Teresa M. Lang Oct. 21, 1930-March 26, 2021
Teresa M. Lang, 90, of Altoona, passed away on Friday at home. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Ludwig and Lena (Heiss) Maierhofer. Teresa married Walter M. Lang at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Valentine’s Day, 1953, he preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2018. Teresa is survived by a son, Walter M. Lang, Jr.; three daughters, Terry (John) Carnicella, Anita (Scott) Wavrek and Monica (Joe) Maus all of Altoona; five grandchildren: Scotty Wavrek, Joshua Maus, John Carnicella, Jr., Maria Kratzer and Rachel Fazio; a brother Lou Maierhofer of Hollidaysburg; sister Louise Gioiosa of Altoona, sister in law Mary (John) Pottsgrove of Altoona and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and a brother, Joseph Maierhofer. Teresa was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altoona where she was an active volunteer in many church activities and where she greatly enjoyed her many years as a volunteer and leader of the Girl Scouts Program there. She was recognized by the WISE women of Blair County as the Community Service Volunteer of 2009 for her dedication to the Girl Scout Program. She was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School. Friends will be received from 9:30 – 10:30 am Tuesday March 30, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc, 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday March 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Fr. Lubomir Strecok. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
