Thomas was blessed by six loving children: Brigid (Daniel) Sheedy, Kathleen (Dan) Crain, Meg (Frank) DiNardo, Maureen (Lou) Steinbugl, Tom (Annie) Dougherty, and Moira (Walter) Hammond.

He was further blessed with 21 grandchildren: Ryan, Christopher, Matthew, Eric, Michael, Brian, Ali, Kristen, Andrew, Tripp, Sean, Lauren, Alois, Megan, Max, Jack, Abbie, Claire, Trey, Sophia, and Mary Carol. He also had 13 great-grandchildren: Cullen, Ryan, Mia, Reynolds, Campbell, Louisa, Maddy, Emily, Hazel, Leo, Mack, Sophia, and Emmett.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel (Norma) Dougherty and sister, Ruth (Karl) Schweitzer.

Thomas was born in Duquesne, PA, son of the late Daniel F. and Pauline (Meyer) Dougherty. He was a graduate of Duquesne High School, furthering his education at Duquesne University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Accounting. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at Duquesne University School of Law. He was a U.S. Army Artillery Officer, honorably serving from 1955 until 1957. Thomas was employed by Touche Ross, L.B. Foster Co., and later worked independently as a CPA and Attorney-at-Law until retiring at the age of 87.

Active in his church and community, Tom was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for many years while raising his family with Louise. He then became a parishioner at Corpus Christi (Holy Child) in Bridgeville, where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister, and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in the Rotary Club of Bridgeville-South Fayette and served as president. Tom’s faith and love of family and friends guided him throughout his life. He was well known for his generosity, willing to share his advice and wisdom with others, and helping in any way he could. A lifelong learner, Tom recognized the value of scholarship and tirelessly sought to impart his knowledge on the next generations.
