Timothy C. Dale Nov. 29, 1944 – Oct. 4, 2025
Timothy Chester "Tim" Dale, 80, of Altoona passed away Saturday, October 4, at Graystone Manor Personal Care Home after an extended illness. Tim was born on November 29, 1944, the oldest son of the late Joseph W. and Marie A. (Vaughn) Dale.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over forty years, Janet M. (Gutwald) Dale, whom he married November 3, 1962, and his brother Joseph C. Dale.
Tim is survived by his sister, Cindy Nelson of San Diego, CA, brother Wayne (Linda) of Eloy, AZ and children, Daniel (Amy) Dale of Chesapeake, VA, Nancy (James) McConnell of Altoona, and Todd (Beth) Dale of Altoona. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Megan (Christopher) Woloszyk, Zachary (Tori) McConnell, Colin (Kirstin) and Emma Dale, Olivia, Mason and Allie Dale; great grandchildren Finn Timothy and Rowan Woloszyk, and Brynnleigh Boone, as well as many nieces and nephews.
After attending Altoona Area High School, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Lexington (CVS-16) as an Electrician's Mate. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Tim then worked as a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local No. 5 with 52 years of service.
Tim will be best remembered for his ability to make friends wherever he went and for the generosity he extended to any person in need of his time, talents, or advice. He touched the lives of many in his community and will be greatly missed by all. Throughout his life, Tim had many hobbies, including bicycling and throwing darts. He loved to travel and enjoyed spending time fishing with his sons.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament or the American Cancer Society in Tim's honor.
