Urban J. Zierer

April 20, 1941-July 28, 2025

Urban J. Zierer, 84, of Duncansville, passed away Monday afternoon at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Ralph and Helen (Schiesler) Zierer.

Urban is survived by his life partner, Dianna Mattiello; two daughters: Helena Mattiello of Maine and Laurie Zierer of Philadelphia; three stepdaughters: Laura Nearhoof of Altoona, Lisa Heck of Texas City, TX and Tabatha Phan of Indianapolis, IN; two stepsons: John Mattiello of Enola and Michael Mattiello of Boston, MA; one granddaughter, Zoe Tzanis and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was a 1959 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, where he enjoyed playing football.

Urban retired as a long-distance truck driver.

He was a member of the Unter Uns and the Loop Hunt Club. Urban enjoyed being a HAMM Radio Operator and was a gun collector.

At Urban’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
