Obituary For Virginia "Ginny" L. Holland

Virginia L. “Ginny” Holland June 6, 1931-April 2, 2024

Virginia L. “Ginny” Holland, 92, Altoona, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Robert and Lenora (Shannon) Winslow. Virginia married David A. Holland on November 15, 1951 in Winchester, VA, he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2016.

She is survived by her two loving daughters: Virginia Lenora Johnson of Altoona and Brenda Tolksdorf of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren: Justin Johnson (Sarah), David Johnson (Amy) and Mara Tolksdorf; five great-grandchildren: Greer Johnson, Stella Johnson, Palmer Johnson, Arabella Johnson and Nico Zavala.

Ginny was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Winslow.

She graduated with an associate degree in Accounting from the Altoona School of Commerce. Ginny first worked for Young, Oakes, Brown & Co., later she worked for R.B. Winslow and Son Construction Co., and lastly, had been the accountant for Holland Manor Personal Care Home.

Ginny had been a member of First Lutheran Evangelical Church. She belonged to the order of the Eastern Star, her card clubs, and had been a member at the Heidelberg Country Club, where she loved dancing with her husband.

She loved the arts, painting, playing the piano, bird watching, gardening, was an avid swimmer and had been a former lifeguard at Ivyside Park. Ginny was an active, vibrant lady and loved travelling with her husband, David.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Barry A. Folmar. Graveside committal will be held immediately following the service at Alto Reste Park.
