Obituary For Virginia "Mickie" L. Seymour

Virginia L. “Mickie” Seymour

March 29, 1947-July 24, 2025

Virginia L. “Mickie” Seymour, 78, of Altoona, passed away at her residence Thursday evening. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Dave Carland and Ann (Bell) Carland-Lascoli. She was raised by stepfather, the late Pasquale Lascoli.

Mickie married Gene Seymour on September 18, 1965.

She is survived by her loving husband and two sons and their spouses: Craig Seymour (Judy) and Cory J. Seymour (Rhonda) all of Altoona; two grandchildren: Brandi Rupert (Sammy) and Andrew Rupert (Emily); two great-grandchildren: Kenya and Daniel; two step-grandchildren: Patrick and Phillip; and two sisters: Beverly Riley of Duncansville and Patricia Wolf (William) of Altoona and many nieces and nephews.

Mickie was preceded in death by her daughter, Tricia Rupert and son, Brian Seymour; a grandson, Brendan Seymour and her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Trexler.

She was a graduate of Altoona High School and had received her associate degree from Penn State University.

Mickie retired from the Home Nursing Agency.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mickie was also a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Mickie enjoyed crocheting hats and gloves to donate to children whom were in need.

Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, PA 16602 with Fr. Lubomir Strecok, celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

The family request contributions be given in Mickie’s memory to: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, PA 16602.

    Mickie, Was my confirmation sponsor and when I called to ask her. She told me yes, she was so in shock she later told. My whole family loves her to us she was family.
