William Louis “Bill” Dumm Oct. 6, 1950 –December 21, 2023

William Louis “Bill” Dumm of York, formerly of Altoona, died on Thursday morning at Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center of Mt. Joy.

He was born in Altoona, son of George A. Dumm and Margaret Virginia (Starr) Dumm.

On May 12, 1979, he married Mary Elaine Taylor of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.

He is survived by his wife; his four children: Christopher G. Dumm (Emily), Jason W. Dumm all of Baltimore, MD, Matthew E. Dumm (Katie) of Avoca, PA, and Sarah G. Prescott of South Portland, ME; a grandson Aidan M. Dumm of Avoca, PA; a brother, Edward G. Dumm (Jean) of Manchester, NH; and a sister, Mary Peterson (Gary) of State College, PA.

He was a 1968 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School where he was a founding member of the “Pep Band”. Bill graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL in 1971 with an associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology.

Bill worked for Wissingers IGA, NAPA, Hollenbacks Electronics and Allegheny Electronics in the Altoona area. He pursued his career in television broadcast product sales working for firms including North American Philips, US JVC Corp., Ikegami Electronics, RF Technology and Nucomm Microwave while living in Warwick and Middletown, NY. Bill’s hobbies included golf, fly fishing and fly tying.

Friends will be received from 3-6 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with celebrant, Fr. James Dugan. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
