Willis R. “Will” Hockenberry
April 13, 1943 – November 26, 2025
Willis R. “Will” Hockenberry, 82, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, following a fall at his residence.
He was born in Lewistown, son of the late Josephine (Tubbs) Funk and stepfather, Michael Funk.
Will is survived by three children: Eric (Gloria), Adam, and Heather Franell (Arthur), all of Altoona; and four grandchildren: Eric M. Hockenberry, Nicholas J. Hockenberry, Issac T. Franell, and Sarah N. Franell.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathaniel; a brother; and a sister.
Will was a graduate of Altoona High School as well as a Technical School graduate.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era.
He retired from Verizon as a telephone long distance operator and had previously worked at Small Tube Products, Fry Metals, and Holtz Real Estate.
Will enjoyed fishing, singing, and songwriting.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave. Altoona, PA 16602.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
